Organic Eprints - a tool for co-operative work
All publication concerning the QLIF project will be published on Organic Eprints (http://www.orgprints.org). Organic Eprints is an electronic international open access archive for papers related to research in organic agriculture. Organic Eprints support the collaboration among researchers and at the same time makes it possible to follow the project publications regularly and get a general view of the project.
Organic Eprints is an online community and has since 2003 been a co-operation between DARCOF (the Danish Research Centre for Organic Farming) FiBL (the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture) and Bundesprogramm Ökologischer Landbau. At the moment, the archive covers Denmark, Germany and Switzerland and the intention is that more countries should join.
The archive can be managed through the internet so that each country or organization can have its own editor. At present, there is an English and a German language interface and more translations will be added.
Open access
'Organic Eprints' has been established to promote open access to research results. Open access means that the documents are freely accessible to all, who have access to the internet.
As an open access archive, Organic Eprints is part of a larger movement that seeks to make research papers available in open archives. Organic Eprints accepts not only scientific papers, but also articles that are directed at farmers, decision makers, consumers, etc.
The archive receives papers, reports, thesises and other documents that are related to research in organic agriculture. All languages are supported but with an English abstract in most cases.
The documents in the archive are stored as "eprints" - full electronic versions together with publishing information, abstract, peer review status, etc. One can browse the archive by subject area as well as by country, organization and project. There are also extensive search facilities.
Improving communication and dissemination
The Organic Eprints archive is a tool for further developing research in organic agriculture.
The archive facilitates the communication of research papers and proposals, to improve the dissemination and impact of research findings, and to document the research effort. The archive supports international use and co-operation, aiming at developing into a comprehensive international archive that serves more and better international collaboration.
Organic Eprints is in addition to EcoWiki, which is a mean to connect and unite research in organic agriculture. It facilitates communication among researchers and opens up the prospect of connecting reseach and the users of the research.
Register and get regular updates on new research
If you wish to get regular updates on new research (e.g. in the QLIF project), you can register as user in Organic eprint. Hereby you can subscribe to email alerts on new deposits in selected subject areas, from certain countries, etc.
All can register as users in the archive and thereby subscribe to email alerts and deposit papers.
