Summary

National Organic Agriculture Movements (NOAMs) are umbrella organizations of organic sectors based on membership. There is a diversity of setups, governance, and operations following various success models to lead, unite, and assist the organic movement in a country. However, many face the challenge of finding a sustainable strategy and financing their service provision. The following opportunities are being successfully practiced in one or several organizations: Membership, Service mandates, Support and grants for development projects, Donations, small businesses, Organic standard, certification and mark, Government contributions or Research and extension.
By integrating these features, NOAMs in low-income countries can thrive, supporting organic and agroecological practices while maintaining financial viability.
