Summary
The European Union has committed to making the agriculture sector a key contributor to achieving climate neutrality by 2050. This goal requires extensive collaboration among scientists, advisory services, farmers, and value chain actors. Several projects at regional, national, and EU levels are fostering mutual learning and helping to identify suitable methods, models, tools, and approaches to support this transition. The Horizon EU projects ClieNFarms, Climate Farm Demo, and Organic Climate Net offer valuable insights into harmonizing data collection and tool assessments across the EU. Additionally, long-term trials in Switzerland and regional compensation initiatives shed light on the complex challenges faced by farmers and scientists in carbon sequestration and participation in carbon credit market.
