Summary

This tool summarises results from the DIVERSILIENCE project on the performance of genetically diverse bean materials under organic farming conditions. It shows how heterogeneous materials, different growth types and cropping systems influence adaptation, yield formation and system performance in sole cropping and intercropping. The tool provides practical insights for farmers and advisors on variety choice, system design and key management factors affecting organic bean production.

EPrint Type:Practice tool
Teaser:Genetically diverse beans for resilient organic farming systems
What problem does the tool address?:The tool addresses the challenge of achieving resilient and reliable organic bean production under variable environmental conditions, where uniform varieties often perform inconsistently in low-input and intercropping systems.
What solution does the tool offer?:The tool presents evidence from organic field trials showing how genetically diverse bean materials and appropriate cropping system choices can support adaptation and resilience under variable organic conditions.
