Summary

The SCOOP project is dedicated to developing innovative and diverse organic intercropping systems with the goal of preserving the integrity of ecosystems and agricultural land, enhancing biodiversity, and ensuring food and feed security. This new intercropping approach will be centered around camelina (Camelina sativa L. Crantz), a versatile European oilseed, that is capable of maintaining consistent yields under rainfed conditions across various regions in Europe.
Companion crops for camelina, such as pulses (e.g., pea, lentil, fenugreek, vetch), pseudo-cereals (e.g., buckwheat), or ancient cereals (e.g., spelt), were monitored regarding their above/below ground biodiversities with the scope of the present project during the years of 2021 and 2024.
