Summary

Študija je primerjala dobrobit krškopoljskih prašičev v treh ekoloških sistemih reje: na prostem (PR), v hlevu z izpustom (HI) in v hlevu (HR). Dobrobit so ocenili z vprašalnikom in z analizo koncentracije kortizola v dlaki, ki odraža dolgotrajen stres. Ugotovili so, da se raven dobrobiti in stres razlikujeta glede na letni čas in način reje. Najvišja dobrobit je bila zabeležena spomladi v HI, najnižja pa večkrat v PR. Zima je povzročila najvišje koncentracije kortizola pri vseh skupinah, poletje in jesen pa najnižje. Optimalna reja se torej spreminja skozi leto: pozimi je primerna reja v hlevu, spomladi HI, medtem ko so poleti in jeseni bolj primerni pogoji na prostem. Rezultati kažejo, da je kombinacija vprašalnika in analize kortizola dobra metoda za ocenjevanje dobrobiti prašičev.


Summary translation

The study compared the welfare of Krškopolje pigs in three organic farming systems: outdoor (PR), indoor with outdoor access (HI), and fully indoor (HR). Welfare was assessed using a questionnaire and hair cortisol concentration analysis, which reflects long-term stress. Results showed that welfare levels and stress varied depending on the season and housing system. The highest welfare was recorded in spring in the HI system, while the lowest was often in PR. Cortisol levels were highest in winter across all systems, and lowest in summer and autumn. The optimal housing system changes throughout the year: indoor housing is most suitable in winter, HI in spring, while outdoor conditions seem more appropriate in summer and autumn. The findings suggest that combining welfare questionnaires with hair cortisol analysis is an effective method for evaluating pig welfare.
