Summary in the original language of the document
NDLXP = XPFutter – NDUXP bzw. ADLXP = XPFutter - ADUXP
Summary translation
A practically, simple and fast laboratory method to estimate the standardised precaecally digestible crude protein (spcvXP) in feedstuffs, which was validated in a previous project for pigs (Schumacher et al. under review 2024), is now tested and calibrated for its applicability in feedstuffs for poultry. The overall objective of the project is to contribute to an adequate XP supply of poultry and to support performance and animal health as well as to avoid nitrogen surpluses, which are harmful for the animal and the environment. This can be achieved by a precise protein evaluation of the feed. According to GfE, protein evaluation has been based on spcvXP since 2006. Up to now, this has been determined in vivo using an invasive method. In vitro, spcvXP is often determined using a time-consuming enzymatic method (Boisen and Fernandez 1995), which has not been well established so far. Therefore, a rapid laboratory method for the estimation of spcvXP in poultry was developed. On the lines of the XP fractionation procedure for ruminant feeds the neutral detergent insoluble XP (NDUXP) or acid detergent insoluble XP (ADUXP) is measured. Based on the determination of NDUXP or ADUXP, the ND-soluble or AD-soluble XP is calculated and used to derive equation to estimate spcvXP.
