Summary in the original language of the document

This factsheet shows how targeted potassium management can help to avoid over- or under-supply.

Summary translation

EPrint Type:Practice tool
Teaser:Basics of successful nutrient management
What problem does the tool address?:The nutrient potassium (K) is very important for the water balance and photosynthesis of the plant. A good K supply leads to higher resistance to diseases and pests as well as higher tolerance to weather extremes such as frost and drought. Especially in organic farming, crops such as grass clover and potatoes are often grown, which remove a lot of potassium from the system. In order to close material cycles, potassium must be recycled.
What solution does the tool offer?:In livestock farms, this happens, for example, through the use of manure. For farms without livestock, it usually makes sense to purchase fertilizer or cooperate to ensure the potassium supply. The location also plays a crucial role.
