Summary

Global challenges such as climate change and biodiversity loss create a need to develop current agronomic methods. The transnational project “Strip-cropping and recycling of waste for biodiverse and resource-efficient intensive vegetable production (SUREVEG)” aims to develop and implement new diversified, intensive organic vegetable cropping systems using intercropping and fertility strategies from organic soil-improvers and fertilizers. Such could support cropping system resilience, agrobiodiversity, local nutrient recycling, soil fertility and carbon storage.
