The situation of the environmental collapse and emergency (climatic, economic and health), to that our life and economic model has led us, requires urgent and effective solutions.
So that we need tools to evaluate and measure the impact of our actions and the solutions that we propose, as well as for the projection of these impacts in the medium and long term.
The uncontrolled release of toxins, the loss of biodiversity, the shortage of energy and materials, the emission of greenhouse gases, etc., derived from human activity has caused an exponential increase in temperatures at all levels, the proliferation of meteorological effects increasingly intense and frequent adverse events, loss of soil and genetic resources, with very serious consequences on health and social justice. Each of these consequences turn into causes that lead to other effects, generating feedback chains.
If we do not address the bases of the problems as they are and at the same time we are able to analyze them and understand them as a whole, we will not be able to act with the effectiveness, rigor and efficiency that this
situation requires.
For the first time, international institutions are requiring indicators of impact and are conditioning the aids, such as the Common Agricultural Policy, to the achievement of environmental, social and economic objectives.
SEAE wants to contribute to the debate and the generation of indicators that show and assess the impact of our food production activity on our
soil, climate, biodiversity, water and human well-being. It is a challenge for researchers,administrations, productive sector and society in general.

La situación de colapso ambiental y emergencia (tanto climática como económica y sanitaria), a la que nuestro modelo de vida y económico nos ha conducido, requiere soluciones urgentes y eficaces.
Para ello necesitamos herramientas para evaluar y medir el impacto de nuestras acciones y las soluciones que propongamos, así como para la proyección de dichos impactos a medio y largo plazo.
La liberación incontrolada de tóxicos, la pérdida de biodiversidad, la escasez de energía y materiales, la emisión de gases de efecto invernadero, etc., derivados de la actividad humana ha provocado un aumento exponencial de las temperaturas a todos los niveles, la proliferación de efectos meteorológicos adversos cada vez más intensos y frecuentes, la pérdida de suelos y recursos genéticos, con muy graves consecuencias sobre la salud y la justicia social. Cada una de estas consecuencias se vuelven a su vez en causas que derivan en otros efectos generando cadenas de retroalimentación.
Si no abordamos las bases de los problemas de forma exacta y a la vez somos capaces de analizarlas y entenderlas en su conjunto, no podremos actuar con la eficacia, rigor y eficiencia que la situación requiere.
Por primera vez, las instituciones internacionales están requiriendo indicadores de impacto y están empezando a condicionar ayudas, como por ejemplo las de la Política Agraria Común, a la consecución de objetivos ambientales, sociales y económicos.
Por todo esto, desde SEAE, queremos contribuir al debate y a la generación de indicadores que muestren y evalúen las repercusiones de nuestra actividad de producción de alimentos sobre nuestro suelo, clima, biodiversidad, agua y bienestar humano. Se trata de un reto para investigadores, administraciones, sector productivo y sociedad en general.
