Summary

Summary translation

There were reasons that the pioneers of organic farming laid down principles for fertilisation, soil cultivation and plant protection. The use of mineral fertilisers leads to malnutrition in the soil, a decline in biological activity, loss of soil structure and compaction and thus to reduced water absorption and storage, and it makes plants vulnerable. In the meantime, international comparative studies prove the superiority of organic farming in all areas that stand for sustainable agriculture. The basis for this is the abstention of mineral fertilisers, the ban on synthetic chemical pesticides and the stabilisation of agricultural cultivation systems through diversity in and above the soil. This is the basis for sustainable agriculture today. Hybridisation with conventional agriculture, in which the use of synthetic chemical mineral fertilisers and pesticides is permitted, is therefore not reasonable.
