It provides information on the organic regulations of organic production of piglets in the EU, Germany and Switzerland, as well. The leaflet is useful for organic farmers and advisors, alike. This also could be helpful for farmers in transition or thinking about transiting to organic pig production. The information provided to relevant across Europe.

Die Absetzphase stellt für die Ferkel eine enorme psychische wie physiologische Belastung dar. Die schlagartige Veränderung des sozialen Umfelds, der Haltungumgebung und der Futterzusammensetzung mache die Ferkel sehr anfällig für Erkrankungen und Entwicklungsstörungen. Deshalb ist es in dieser Phase besonders wichtig, als Tierhalter die Haltung den Ansprüchen der Ferkel anzupassen und Managementfehler zu vermeiden.
Das Merkblatt fasst die Erfahrungen aus einem dreijährigen Praxisprojekt und die Beobachtungen von Beratern zur Haltung und Fütterung von Ferkeln rund um den Absetzzeitpunkt zusammen.
