Summary

Summary translation

Organic farming makes an important contribution to many ecological and social societal objectives. . These achievements are not always assigned to an individual company, but are the result of
of synergies and cumulative effects at a regional level. These social and ecological services are to be more than before supported by various political and market-based instruments
will be rewarded. Appropriate approaches for recording the achievements and their effects on regional level, as well as the remuneration are missing. The aim of the RegioSÖL project is to improve these services of the
to make organic farming more visible through transparent recording in a regional reference area and to increase it through appropriate remuneration. The project has 3 specific objectives: (1) A improved recording of the social performance of organic farming at regional level and making them visible, (2) an appropriate remuneration of social-ecological services through collective approaches to basis of (1), and (3) with regional action strategies to optimise the provision of the
services and thus improve the sustainability of the region. This approach is based on the understanding that the valorisation of social and environmental services in the
Agriculture only via the cascade of awareness - appreciation / interest - value creation can.
RegioSÖL therefore deals with the following overarching research questions:
- Which approaches are suitable for the regular transparent recording of the social-ecological services of organic farming?
- How can existing remuneration approaches for social-ecological services be improved?
- How can regional strategy approaches contribute to the optimisation of the supply of social-ecological services?
- Which political and institutional improvements are necessary?
The project is based on a social-ecological system framework and on the multi-level approach associated with transition theory as an analytical framework.
