Summary
This booklet showcases the main innovation, results and the impact of the LiveSeeding project on organic cultivar testing - from regulation to practice. It addresses key regulatory, methodological and digital challenges to strengthen the availability, evaluation and market access of Organic Varieties (OVs) and Organic Heterogeneous Material (OHM) across Europe.
From clarifying notification pathways for OHM and adapting procedures for the registration of organically bred varieties, to advancing participatory on-farm cultivar evaluation and deploying the SeedLinked digital platform, the project combines regulatory innovation, multi-actor collaboration and practical tools. It also builds long-term capacity through structured training modules designed to empower breeders, farmers, trial managers and public authorities.
All these actions are designed to collectively build a more transparent, participatory and resilient organic seed system — one that supports crop diversity, farmer engagement and the sustainable development of organic agriculture in Europe.
