Von den 374000 Pflanzenarten, werden 10% kultiviert. Metagonomics zeigen, dass auch asymptomatische Pflanzen Viren enthalten. Bisher sind lediglich 2000 Pflanzenviren taxonomisch gelistet, d.h. nur die Spitze der Virosphere ist erfasst. Zierpflanzen sind auch wichtig für das One Health Konzept.
Summary translation
Currently 374000 plant species are known and 10% are used. Metagenomics revealed viruses in asymptomatic plants which serve as a reservoir and can be a threat for cultured plants. So far 2000 plant viruses recognized. It becomes clear that the majority of plant viruses still has to be discovered.
