Summary in the original language of the document

Improving nitrogen supply is often a central motivation when agricultural operations want to optimise their nutrient management. The tool explains how nitrogen supply can be improved through well-chosen crop rotation, catch crops and legumes and fertilisation.

Summary translation

EPrint Type:Practice tool
Teaser:Basics of successful nutrient management.
What problem does the tool address?:Nitrogen (N) is one of the most important plant nutrients. In arable crops, nitrogen is often a limiting factor for plant growth and thus for yield.
What solution does the tool offer?:In organic farming, nitrogen supply is ensured primarily through the cultivation of legumes. Other sources of nitrogen include organic manure or approved organic commercial fertilizer. Successful nitrogen management is characterised by keeping losses as low as possible. Cover crop cultivation plays a role here, as does the optimised storage and application of manure.
