EPrint Type:Practice tool
Teaser:Disease and pest control in outdoor vegetable cultivation.
What problem does the tool address?:The great diversity of vegetable crops poses various challenges for plant protection efforts, because the different cultures belong to very different plant families, some with species-specific diseases and pests.
What solution does the tool offer?:Plant protection in organic vegetable production begins way before the culture is actually on the field. Making optimal use of available preventative measures should make the use of plant protection products as unnecessary as possible. Because
once a disease or pest can establish within a culture, in many cases there are only moderately effective plant protection products available, which can even hurt beneficial organisms.
