Summary in the original language of the document

The use of protein-rich plants as whole plant silage (WPS) in pig feeding is attractive because roughages have positive effects on the gastrointestinal tract and contribute to the energy and protein supply of the animals. Vetch has agronomic benefits as leguminous winter catch crop and could be used as WPS. However, effects on slaughter characteristics can occur through silage feeding. We therefore aimed to investigate the effect of vetch WPS on fattening performance and slaughter characteristics of pigs.
