Dyrking av julesalat krever at man starter tidlig med såing midt på sommeren. Røttene må tas opp før frost og drives i mørke og varme minst tre uker før jul. Julesalat regnes for salat, men er botanisk sett mer beslektet med løvetann.


Summary translation

Cultivation of chicory requires sowing early summertime to assure sufficient size of the roots. The can then be further developed, at least three weeks before christmas, under warm and dark conditions. Chicory counts as lettuce but, is botanically more related to Lions dent.
