Summary

Summary translation

The project deals with a simple laboratory method to estimate the standardised precaecally digesti-ble crude protein (spcvCP). The overall objective of the project is to contribute to an adequate CP supply of pigs and also to support performance and animal health as well as to avoid nitrogen sur-pluses, which are harmful for the animal and the environment. This can be achieved by a precise protein evaluation of the feed. According to GfE, protein evaluation has been based on spcvXP since 2006. Up to now, this has been determined in vivo using an invasive method using fistula at the terminal ileum. In vitro, spcvCP is often determined using a time-consuming enzymatic method (Boisen and Fernandez 1995), which has not been well established so far. Therefore, a rapid labora-tory method for the estimation of spcvCP in pigs was developed. On the lines of the CP fractionation procedure for ruminant feeds(Licitra et al. (1996), the neutral detergent insoluble CP (NDICP) or acid detergent insoluble CP (ADICP) is measured. Based on the determination of NDICP or ADICP, the ND-soluble or AD-soluble CP) is calculated and used to derive equation to estimate spcvCP.
