Het onderzoek naar de economische gevolgen van omschakeling naar een biologische bedrijfsvoering voor Aver Heino is uitgevoerd als een modelstudie. Hierbij is gebruik gemaakt van technische resultaten in de jaren 1997 (gangbaar) en 2000 (biologisch). Het netto bedrijfsresultaat was € 7.300,- lager in 2000 ten opzichte van 1997. Dit is circa € 2,3 per 100 kg melk. In de biologische situatie van 2000 waren de kosten voor arbeid, voerkosten loonwerk en grond € 52.530,- hoger dan in de gangbare situatie van 1997. De extra arbeidskosten zijn ingeschat op circa € 30.000,-, maar de betrouwbaarheid van de arbeidsregistratie is echter twijfelachtig. De kosten voor vee en gewas zijn in de biologische situatie van 2000 wel lager: ruim € 5.400,-.

This is c. € 2.3 per 100 kg milk.In the organic scenario of 2000, the costs of labour, feed, contracting and land were € 52,530 higher than in the “conventional” scenario of 1997. The extra labour costs were estimated to be c. € 30,000, but the reliability of the labour records is questionable. However, in the organic scenario the costs of livestock and crops were more than € 5,400 lower.
