Summary
Het Fyto-V project is door het ministerie van LNV geïnitieerd op verzoek van het kennisnetwerk Bioconnect en de deelnemende biologische ondernemers. De voornaamste doelstelling van het project was om meer kennis over werkzame kruidenpreparaten (fytotherapeutica) voor de biologische veehouder beschikbaar te krijgen. Het project werd uitgevoerd door het RIKILT, in een samenwerkingsverband met de Universiteit Utrecht, de Animal Science Group, het Instituut voor Etnobotanie en Zoöfarmacognosie, het Louis Bolk Instituut en de HAS Den Bosch. In het kader van dit project werd een inventarisatie gemaakt van de op dit moment in Nederland beschikbare kruidenproducten, werden verschillende analytische technieken voor de kwaliteitscontrole van kruidenproducten toegepast en zijn laboratoriumproeven en dierstudies met melkvee, varkens en leghenkuikens uitgevoerd. Tevens werden de wettelijke bepalingen omtrent het gebruik van kruidenproducten in de veehouderij geëvalueerd.

This report describes the current legislation in the Netherlands, Europe and in a number of other important countries regarding the use of herbs in animals and in humans; the bottlenecks in current legislation as noticed by the registration authorities, the industry and the animal production sector; the recommendations of the project group to solve these bottlenecks.
