Summary
This thesis’s focus is on organic products imported from third countries, which are certified via private control bodies recognized by the European Commission (EC). To ensure compliance with the production rules and the correct application of control activities, the EC conducted audits to evaluate the control systems’ reliability established by recognised control bodies in third countries. This master thesis pursues a quantitative approach to the empirical analysis of the EC’s audit reports from the years 2012 – 2020.
