Summary

This document, developed by the Organic Unit of the EU commission in 1994, sets out the conditions for the use of livestock excrements (animal manure) in organic farming. The aim is to rule out the use of livestock excrements from farms where factory farming (intensive husbandry) is carried on mainly on account of its intensive nature and because of the presence in such effluents of undesirable residues. The Expert Group for Technical advice in Organic Production (EGTOP) was not yet established in 1994.
