Summary

The presentation discusses how to estimate climate and environmental impact from food and agricultural products using life cycle assessment. One of the impacts seldomly included in LCA is soil carbon sequestration that can be included in the climate impact category. It is an important impact to include since some agricultural systems has a potential to capture more carbon than others, e.g. grass-based systems. Another impact category that is seldomly included is soil quality. More research is needed to be able to include the effects on soil quality in LCA.
