Summary

Protein concentrates produced from green biomass such as grass, alfalfa or clover to be used as organic feed for monogastric animals might contain compounds that are anti-nutritional i.e. potentially harmful for the animals, as well as beneficial compounds. Both the anti-nutritional factors and beneficial compounds which can potentially be contained in the protein concentrates are described in this introduction section. Besides, the presence of specific anti-nutritional factors, i.e. mycotoxins and tannins have been analyzed in different protein concentrate samples as well as in samples from some of the fractions produced during the Organofinery process such as in the fresh biomass, press cake or green juice
