Summary in the original language of the document
One of the main aims of organic agriculture is to prevent animals from diseases, thus reducing the need for therapeutical treatment. In order to detect subclinical metabolic changes, the implementation of a monitoring system is essential. This study presents an effective way of monitoring the health status of dairy herds using data gathered monthly within the routine milk quality recording system. With this method, it is possible to control the metabolic status of the herd in terms of roughage, energy and protein supply, acidosis, ketosis and udder health. The implementation of the monitoring system on 15 organic farms has shown considerable differences between seasons and even bigger differences between individual farms.
