Summary
‘Consumerism’ characterises the pattern of consumption which relates to and forces the economic dynamic of globalisation. An empirical study by means of qualitative research shows that organic food consumption can result from four basic consumer orientations but the consumeristic one is amongst these. Sustainable changes do not only need new products. Probably more it needs to support another culture of con-sumption.
