Summary

Organic Animal Farming (OAF) systems hold a major part in Organic Agriculture (OA). Alternative protein crops are essential in the development of OAF in order to substitute technically and economically non-acceptable protein sources in Organic Animal feeding.
A study, aiming to compare white lupine (Lupinus albus cv Multitalia) and fava bean (Vicia faba cv Vesuvio) crops, was undertaken in Central Greece. The study compared the two plant species under organic or conventional management regimes in terms of quantity and quality produced. There were no productivity or quality differences between the regimes.
