Summary
An LCA cradle to farm gate approach was used to estimate the environmental impacts of five feeding strategies for organic fattening pigs. These included: S0 – Standard feed ratios with soybean cake and grass clover silage; S1 – Standard feed ratios with soybean cake and fresh grass clover; S2 – Green protein-based feed rations and grass clover silage; S3 – Green protein-based feed rations and fresh grass clover; and S4 – Low Green protein-based feed rations and fresh grass clover. Results were reported per kg live weight at farm gate for climate change (CC) including soil C changes; land occupation (LO); and biodiversity loss (BD).
