Im biologischen Obstbau werden möglichst alle indirekten Methoden zur Regulierung von Schädlingen genutzt (Sortenwahl, funktionelle Biodiversität). Dennoch müssen für den Bioobstproduzenten Möglichkeiten der direkten Regulierung der Schädlinge erarbeitet werden, um bei Schädlingskalamitäten eingreifen zu können. Ungelöste Probleme sind z.B. Kirschenfliege, Birnenblattsauger, diverse Wicklerarten und Blutläuse. Sie verursachen grosse Ertrags- und Qualitätseinbussen. In verschiedenen Projekten werden die Möglichkeiten der direkten Regulierung mit insektiziden und anderen pflanzenschützenden Stoffen geprüft.
