Summary
Summary translation
Preliminary results from the ProLocal project, as well as presentations in articles, videos, and at a workshop, show that algae and pea protein may be a promising alternative to soy in feed for organic chickens. Trials indicate that the climate footprint can be reduced by more than 20%, while animal welfare, meat quality, and sensory characteristics are maintained or improved. Microalgae have a high methionine content and can be produced locally, making them a particularly sustainable protein alternative.
