Summary
En agriculture biologique, les couverts végétaux d’interculture sont identifiés comme un levier de gestion des adventices durant leur période d’implantation. Cependant, leurs effets à plus long terme sont peu connus. Cette étude vise donc à étudier l’effet des couverts végétaux d’interculture sur les adventices de la culture suivante. L’étude se base sur l’analyse multi-sites d’un réseau d’expérimentation en grandes cultures biologiques sur lesquels la biomasse et la densité d’adventices ont été relevées de 2014 à 2019.
Peu de différences sont observées en termes d’adventices dans la culture suivante avec ou sans couvert d’interculture. La saisonnalité des cultures et le recours au désherbage mécanique semblent avoir un impact sur les adventices. Les couverts végétaux d’interculture semblent avoir un impact limité sur les adventices de la culture suivante, des résultats similaires sont suggérés par la bibliographie. Néanmoins, leur utilisation apporte d’autres bénéfices.
Summary translation
In organic farming, intercrop cover crops are identified as way to manage weeds during their presence. However, long-term effects are little known. This study aims to examine intercrop cover crops effects on weeds infestation in the following crop.
This study is based on a multisite analysis of a experimentation sites network. On these organic field crops sites, weed biomass and weed density have been measured from 2014 and 2019. Rank comparisons and Principal Component Analysis have been used to evaluate intercrop cover crop effect on weeds in following crops.
Non-significant differences on weed infestation in the following crop are observed with or without intercrop cover crops. Crop seasonality and mechanical weeding seems to have an impact on weeds. Moreover, weed infestation differs between the different experimentation sites. Intercrop cover crops seems to have a limited impact on weed infestation in the following crop. Same results are shown by the bibliographic references. Nevertheless, intercrop cover crop can be used for multiple other benefits.
