Summary in the original language of the document
This study investigated the behaviour, survival, and osmoregulation of the copepod Apocyclops royi under rapidly decreasing salinities. Results showed that A. royi tolerates salinities down to 20 without behavioural effects, and some even survived a sudden drop from 32 to 0. Activity levels increased in response to light and took around 3 hours to stabilize after a rapid salinity drop. Additionally, A. royi acts as an osmoconformer at high salinity but hyperregulates at lower salinities. These findings highlight the species’ strong adaptability to changing environments.
