Summary in the original language of the document

The information is broken down into 5 large blocks: (i) Biodiversity, (ii) Carbon in the soil and albedo, (iii) competition for land use, (iv) competition for water use and (v) greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and their impact on climate change. For each block, a series of reasoned explanations based on scientific data is provided.

Summary translation

EPrint Type:Practice tool
Teaser:Dismantling myths and promoting a productive debate about the environmental impact of extensive livestock farming.
What problem does the tool address?:Livestock are blamed for serious environmental impacts on a global level. The media and the general public are often unaware that the worst impacts are attributed to grazing livestock and that mitigation measures usually involve abandoning pastoral systems.
What solution does the tool offer?:This conflicts with the fact that grazing livestock have existed throughout written history and with the evidence that environmental impacts have accelerated since the industrial revolution. This informative infographic video explains the true impact of extensive (grazing-based) livestock farming on the environment. In different sections of the video, a series of myths that are spread about extensive livestock farming in recent years are dismantled. The objective of the video is not only to dismantle these myths about the environmental impact of extensive livestock farming but also to be a useful tool to promote debate in this area.
