Summary in the original language of the document

In the first method, called "The beating", a randomly selected branch is beaten three times at eye height, and whatever animals fall are collected on a white frame and counted. The second method is "The strips straps" method. This method consists of rolling up a strip of corregated cardboard with the smooth side towards the outside and placing and fixating it on the most horizontal branch of the tree. 5-15 days later, the strips are carefully opened, arthropods that have sheltered inside are collected and counted. The third method is called "The predation plates". In this method, plates that have been prepared in laboratories are stapled underneath a leaf. These plates contain eggs of for example copper caps. 24 to 48 hours after placing the plates, the amount of eggs that have been nibbled away is counted.

Summary translation

EPrint Type:Practice tool
Teaser:Get to know your orchard and its functional biodiversity better.
What problem does the tool address?:This tool gives attention to the management of the functional biodiversity in organic apple orchards.
What solution does the tool offer?:In this apple orchard the producer levaes a natural rarely mown cover planting. His phytosanitary practices are also little intensive. In this video, three methods of assessing biodiversity are presented and it is shown how the farmer tries to increase functional biodiversity in his orchard.
