Keyline Design and agroforestry on the Aebleten farm - Climate-smart solutions

Summary

In this video, Lukas van Puijenbroek from Aebleten Farm presents keyline design and agroforestry. He has introduced these measures due to the increasingly extreme weather conditions (drought and heavy rain) on his farm. Keylines are based on contour lines and serve to store water. The ditches were planned and implemented in collaboration with keyline and agroforestry consultant Philipp Gerhardt (https://baumfeldwirtschaft.de). After initial experience with keylines in vegetables, an agroforestry system was created in combination with keylines. In addition, water is stored in a pond that serves as a biotope and retention basin. The water is used to irrigate the vegetable crops. Lukas van Puijenbroek is very satisfied with these measures, as they make his farm more climate-resilient in a relatively simple way.
