Summary in the original language of the document

Sojaoa puhul tehti katseid Eesti uue sordiga ’Laulema’.

Summary translation

The project sought to expand the range of legume fodder crops grown in Estonia for organic production. Potentially suitable crops such as winter pea, winter vetch, winter bean, sweet lupin, soya bean were identified for the trial. All these crops were tested. In the case of winter vetch and winter peas, the trial was carried out in a mixture with cereals. Experiments were carried out mainly with German varieties, but also with varieties from other countries. Which, although bred in central Europe, have been shown to have the highest possible tolerance to frost. In the case of soya beans, trials were carried out with the new Estonian variety 'Laulema'.
The trials showed that it is possible to grow winter peas, winter wheat and soybeans organically in Estonia, although the risk of losing the crop is still high. The breeding technology for these crops still needs to be developed, and hopefully more frost-resistant varieties of winter crops and soybean with a shorter growing season will be introduced. Beans did not succeed at all, and summer lupins hardly at all.
