Summary

The magazine paper gives first results on organic grown garlic yield and antibacterial allicin content in a range of cultivars. Then results is shown on testing a prototype plant cocktail powder based on garlic powder in combination with either apple press cake powder or black currant powder in vitro and document synergistic antimicrobial effects between garlic and acidic fruit og berries. Finally in vivo test in organic reared weaning piglets with the prototype plant cocktail added to feed, document a reduction in E. coli in faeces and a lower incidense of diarrhoea in weaning piglets fed with antibacterial plant cocktail and artifically inoculated with F18 E coli, compared to piglets not feed with the plant cocktail but inoculated that got more diarrhoea.
