Summary
La question de la co-existence entre deux systèmes bio, l’un porté par les acteurs historiques, l’autre parles nouveaux acteurs agroindustriels, selon un modèle de bifurcation, est traitée à travers l’hypothèse deconventionalisation. Nous utilisons le cas du système Blanc Bleu Belge et de l’élevage bovin bio belge pourmontrer que le problème de la co-existence de ces deux systèmes est à la fois une question empirique etune question théorique. Notre argument est que le concept de « référentiel » (au sens de Jobert et Muller,1987) est non seulement supérieur d’un point de vue théorique mais qu’il ouvre d’intéressantes perspectives pratiques et ceci pour deux raisons. D’abord parce qu’il permet de comprendre la question et l’enjeu de la co-existence de deux systèmes de connaissances différents, l’un alternatif et l’autre conventionnel. Ensuite parce qu’il permet de comprendre les effets d’irréversibilité qui rendent les systèmes conventionnel et biologique incompatibles l’un avec l’autre.
Summary translation
The question of the co-existence of two organic systems, one carried by historical actors, the other by new agro-industrial actors, according to a bifurcation model, is addressed through the hypothesis of non-conventionalization. We use the case of the Belgian Blue White system and Belgian organic cattle farming to show that the problem of the co-existence of these two systems is both an empirical and a theoretical issue. Our argument is that the concept of 'referential' (in the sense of Jobert and Muller, 1987) is not only superior from a theoretical point of view but also opens up interesting practical perspectives, for two reasons. Firstly, because it allows us to understand the question and the issue of the co-existence of two different knowledge systems, one alternative and the other conventional. Secondly, because it allows us to understand the effects of irreversibility that make the conventional and organic systems incompatible with each other.
