Ce scarabée originaire du Japon a été capturé pour la première fois en 2017 à la frontière sud de la Suisse, et le premier foyer d’infestation sur le sol suisse a été constaté durant l’été 2020 dans le Sud du Tessin. Toute infestation par le scarabée japonais doit être annoncée, mais il n’est pas facile d’identifier le ravageur avec certitude.
