Summary in the original language of the document
Root growth and function are difficult to study as most methods are either destructive or disturb the root environment. Understanding the importance of deep roots for crop growth and production is therefore challenging. A unique rhizobox laboratory was developed to enable detailed studies of root growth and function, by exposing soil and roots to a depth of 4 m.
