Summary
Summary translation
Five-year study of potato cultivation in two conventional and three organic systems has shown that organic systems enhanced the soil microbial hydrolytic activity and increased the content of organic carbon. Significant increase in organic systems was reached by using winter cover crops in combination with composted cattle manure. Content of total nitrogen was not correlated with soil microbial activity and was not dependent on the cropping system. In conventional systems the lower soil microbial activity is explained by the pesticide influence.
