Summary in the original language of the document
In March 2004, a representative consumer survey was published with the topic “criteria for the purchase of food”, commissioned by the German Ministry of Consumer Protection, Food and Agriculture. The results showed that several individual criteria enclosed in the organic production system were considered as “very important” for food purchase, whereas the criterion “origin from organic agriculture” was less important. Possible reasons for this contradictory phenomenon were analysed in an explorative study by running three focus group discussions.
