Summary
Farmers tend to be businesspersons who develop and implement strategies for their farm businesses. The analysis of ten case studies shows that all farm enterprises have very specific business strategies, but the identification of these strategies is a challenge and therefore requires appropriate approaches. A good knowledge and understanding of these strategies are important because researchers or policy advisors need to base their projections on farmers’ expected actions.
