Summary in the original language of the document
Common vetch (Vicia sativa L.) seeds are rich in protein and have shown stable yields under organic cultivation, but contain considerable amounts of anti-nutritional factors (ANFs). Based on reports about reducing ANFs in faba beans (Vicia faba L.) by germination, a 50:50 mixture of erminated common vetch seeds and wheat was offered to laying hens. Voluntary intake of the germinated grains was 20% of total feed intake, which was not affected by treatment. Despite germinated grains replacing part of the laying hen feed, egg production and body weight of the hens did not differ.
