Summary
Summary translation
The main objective with controlled studies with peracetic acid water treatment was to identify efficient water treatment practices that do not cause unnecessary stress to the fish. Water treatment with peracetic acid (PAA) often leads to short-term behavioral changes in fish, and it is well known within the industry that the fish need to acclimatize or get used to the chemical.
Studies investigating the effect of PAA on fish welfare from stress response perspective are needed, as well as studies on the effect of the dosage regimen (short term high dose vs. long term low dose). A study was conducted to investigate the effect of PAA dosage on rainbow trout under controlled experimental conditions.
