Summary

Summary translation

The last few years have seen a growing interest in legumes, both within the livestock sector and human food industry. This interest is motivated not only by concerns about declining arable crop diversity and heavy dependence on soy imported from Latin America, but also by the wish to improve the "western diet" in terms of shifting the emphasis from animal proteins to plant-based proteins. Among legumes, lupin is a promising candidate that has drawn the interest of the human food industry, in particular. This growers' manual therefore focuses on lupin production for human consumption. Nonetheless, growers interested in lupin production for animal feed will also find this manual useful.
