Summary
The diversity of peasant and indigenous societies in India and other parts of the world, which constantly renew their local and traditional knowledge, constitute an enormous wealth for humanity. Small-scale farming and the defence, not only of plant and animal biodiversity, but also of the diversity of human cultural models, can respond in a sustainable way to the current environmental crisis.
