Summary in the original language of the document

Summary translation

Gastrointestinal parasitism is considered a major limitation for the development of the goat industry. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of homeopathic treatment in the control of gastrointestinal parasitism infections in goats. Eighteen goats were divided into three treatments: Control, Arsenicum album CH12, Sulphur CH12 . Animal weight, egg count per gram (ECG), larval culture and assessment of physical fitness by the FAMACHA method were assessed. Animals treated with the drugs Sulphur and Arsenicum album had lower mean ECG than the control group for Trichostrongyloidea. Animals treated with Sulphur had the lowest mean ECG for Strongyloides, although the groups treated with Arsenicum album and Control did not differ. There were no differences between treatments in animal weight or FAMACHA index. We conclude that homeopathy may help in control of endoparasites in goats.
